Hotels in tropical climates usually or most of the time allocates its 80 percent energy use to the hotel rooms' air conditioning, where conventional air conditioners use between 1,200 and 2,000 Watts. That is a huge energy consumption.

Aiming to provide a more sustainable alternative, the Evening Breeze bed comes into the scene. This canopy bed has a built in air conditioner that only uses 400 Watts, creating a reduction in energy use of 60 percent.

Five resorts in the Caribbean and South Africa are now equipped with this bed.
